When Pat Cummins came to speak in the presentation after the eliminator match, he too could not stop himself from praising Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav’s explosive innings made the match difficult for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 15 year old batsman played a brilliant inning of 97 runs in 29 balls. He missed Chris Gayle’s record of scoring the fastest century, but he broke Gayle’s other 14-year-old record.

Since 2012, no one had been able to break Chris Gayle’s record of hitting most sixes in a season, who would have thought that a 15-year-old player would break this record of the Universe Boss. Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit 12 sixes in his innings of 97 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator match, that is, he scored 72 runs with just sixes. Pat Cummins praised Vaibhav a lot after the match.

Pat Cummins said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi played very well. The pitch was good, but the margin is so small that if you miss the yorker, he (Vaibhav) does not miss. The wicket was very good, our team was also balanced.”

Regarding the new bowlers in Sunrisers Hyderabad, Cummins said, “Prafull Hinge and Saqib Hussain performed brilliantly. Our team is one of the youngest teams to make it to the playoffs, the coaching staff has discovered some new talent.”

Regarding chasing the big target of 244 runs, Pat Cummins said, “When there is such a big target, everything has to be right, but we lost important wickets at the wrong time. We missed a bit of making it to the top-2, but there can be no doubt about the hard work of the players.”

Joffra Archer took 3 wickets in powerplay

After the stormy innings of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Joffra Archer wreaked havoc with the ball. He gave a great start to his team by dismissing the top-3 batsmen (Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Travis Head) in the powerplay, if SRH’s top order had held on then the target of 244 would not have been too big for them. Abhishek could not even open the account, Head (17) and Ishaan (33) made a fast start but were out early after playing unnecessary shots.

Although Archer proved to be expensive, he also took important wickets. Archer took 3 wickets for 58 runs in 4 overs. Nandre Berger, Sushant Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja took 2-2 wickets. Yash Punja took 1 wicket.
