A big change has come to light regarding the country’s biggest medical entrance examination, NEET UG. According to news agency PTI, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has told the Supreme Court that from the year 2027, it is ready to conduct the NEET UG examination in computer based test i.e. CBT mode. The purpose of this change is said to be to make the examination process more transparent, secure and technically strong.

Till now NEET UG exam has been conducted in offline pen and paper mode. But in the coming time, students may have to take exams on computers. NTA has indicated that technical preparations are being made rapidly so that the online examination system can be completely implemented by 2027.

  • NTA told the Supreme Court that it is ready to conduct NEET UG in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode from 2027.
  • The agency said that this decision will be taken after consultation with the Central Government and the Health Ministry.
  • The High Level Expert Committee has also recommended changing NEET UG from pen-paper mode to CBT mode.
  • NTA said that almost all its major examinations are already being conducted in online mode.

Students will get new exam experience

After the implementation of CBT mode, students will have to enter the answers online by reading the questions on the screen. This will reduce the chances of mistakes related to OMR sheet. Also, the process of releasing results may also be faster than before. However, the digital examination system can also become a new challenge for many students.

Focus will be on security and transparency

In recent years, cases of paper leaks and irregularities have been in the news regarding NEET exam. In such a situation, NTA is now emphasizing on adopting technology based examination system. The agency believes that online examination will strengthen the security system and the examination process will become more transparent.
