CUET PG 2026: Normalization happened or not? NTA gave a big answer on CUET PG 2026

Amidst the questions and speculations being raised on social media regarding Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET PG) 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified the situation. The agency has said that the reason for conducting the examination of some subjects on two different dates in March 2026 was due to special circumstances and under this, re-exam was conducted only for 565 affected candidates.

NTA, in a statement issued on social media platform The agency also clarified that no normalization of marks of any candidate has been done in CUET PG 2026.

According to NTA, due to law and order situation in Tura region of Meghalaya and security issues at some foreign examination centres, some candidates could not appear for the examination on their scheduled date. These circumstances were beyond the control of the candidates. In such a situation, keeping in mind the interests of the students, the agency decided to conduct the examination again for them.

The agency said that a total of 565 candidates were affected by this problem. Rescheduled examinations were conducted for these students on March 29 and 30. NTA says that its policy is that no candidate should suffer any loss due to circumstances for which he himself is not responsible.

Re-exam of how many subjects?

During the re-exam, examination for a total of 28 subjects was conducted. NTA said that separate question papers were prepared for these subjects, but their difficulty level was kept at par with the question papers used in the main examination. Subject experts had already reviewed these question papers and certified that the difficulty level of both the question papers was equal.

Many students on social media had raised questions about whether the marks of candidates who appeared for the exam on different dates were normalized when the exam for the same subject was held on two different days. On this, NTA has clearly said that no normalization was done in the score of any candidate.

NTA said this

According to the agency, the marks of all the candidates have been prepared in the same manner. Whether the candidate has appeared in the main examination or in the re-exam, all the results have been prepared on the basis of actual marks obtained (Absolute Marks). No additional advantage or disadvantage has been given to any candidate. NTA said that the students appearing in the re-exam were not given easy question papers nor were their marks adjusted up or down. The evaluation process was completely similar for all the candidates.
