He scored a century in 48 balls, that too when Afghanistan had a bad start and 3 wickets had fallen at 26. However, after the dismissal of Gurbaz, the Indian bowlers made a good comeback and bundled out the visiting team for 194. Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar, playing the debut match, took 3 wickets each.

Due to rain the match started with a delay of 4 hours 15 minutes. Shubman Gill chose bowling after winning the toss. Afghanistan had a bad start, Gurnoor Brar, playing the debut match, dismissed Ibrahim Zadran (1) in his first and second overs of the innings. Wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a brilliant inning of 102 runs and created history, becoming the fastest batsman to score the fastest ODI century for Afghanistan. He completed his century in 48 balls. In ODI International, he has come at number 14 in terms of century in the fewest number of balls. His innings was ended by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who bowled Gurbaz on the third ball of the 16th over.

Gurbaz scored 102 runs in 51 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 8 fours. After his dismissal, no other batsman except Azmatullah Omarzai played an important inning of 26 runs in 16 balls, taking Afghanistan to the score of 194. Rashid Khan (9), Mohammad Nabi (9) could not do anything special.
