An agreement has been reached between America and Iran to end the long-running conflict in the Middle East. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was playing the role of mediator in this conversation, announced this. US President Donald Trump also posted on his social media platform Truth Social and said that an agreement has been reached between America and Iran.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has also confirmed this agreement. However, the path to reach this agreement was not easy. Many military actions, negotiations, ceasefires and diplomatic efforts took place in the last 107 days.
Timeline of America-Iran war
- On February 28, the US launched “Operation Epic Fury” and along with Israel attacked Iran. After this the tension between the two countries increased rapidly.
- On April 8, after about 40 days of fighting, an interim agreement was reached and a 14-day ceasefire was implemented.
- On 11 and 12 April, a meeting was held between America and Iran in Pakistan. Talks continued for about 21 hours in Islamabad, but no result was achieved.
- An attempt was made to hold a second round of talks on April 20, but Iran refused to participate.
- On April 25, the Iranian delegation, led by Abbas Araghchi, reached Pakistan.
- On April 30, Iran made its proposal in response to the American proposal, but Donald Trump rejected Iran’s peace proposal.
- On May 18, Iran sent a 14-point proposal to America through Pakistan. After this, America indicated some leniency in oil sanctions.
- On the same day, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached Iran and met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
- On May 22, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir reached Tehran. He met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Ghalibaf, but no concrete agreement or framework could be reached and he returned.
- On May 27, Donald Trump said that good talks are going on with Iran and either there will be a wonderful agreement or both sides can return to the battlefield. On the same day, news of four explosions near Bandar Abbas was reported in the morning and America attacked Iran’s military bases.
- On June 1, 2026, the US said that it attacked Iranian military targets over the weekend. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed that they targeted the American base. Iran also talked about attacking an American base located in Kuwait.
- On June 5, 2026, Iran fired missiles in the direction of Kuwait and Bahrain, six of which were intercepted. After this America retaliated against Iranian radar sites. Iran accused the US of breaking the ceasefire and one of its advisers said talks were almost at a standstill.
- On June 6, 2026, US CENTCOM reported that it shot down 4 to 6 Iranian attack drones heading towards the strait. Also, radar sites on Qeshm Island were targeted. The earlier fragile ceasefire again turned into tension.
- On June 7, 2026, Iran sent several drones towards the strait, four of which the US claimed to have shot down. Negotiations remained deadlocked and military tensions appeared to outweigh diplomatic efforts. The possibility of the situation worsening further also increased.
- On June 9, 2026, an American Apache helicopter fell near the Strait of Hormuz. Donald Trump confirmed this.
- On June 10, 2026, America again carried out air strikes on Iran after the helicopter was shot down. With this the ceasefire broke and CENTCOM informed that military activities will continue.
- On June 11, 2026, conflict between the two countries continued for the second consecutive day. Iran claimed that it had attacked 18 American bases in the Gulf countries. After America’s action, Iran announced complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
- On June 13, 2026, amid talks, new Israeli airstrikes took place in southern Lebanon, killing at least five people. Donald Trump said that when the peace agreement was almost in its final stages, such attacks should not have happened.
- On June 14, 2026, Qatari mediators reached Tehran to finalize the agreement between the US and Iran. Meanwhile, despite increasing tension in Lebanon, Trump said that both the countries are very close to a peace agreement.

Peace talks meeting was held in Pakistan
The first meeting held in Pakistan on 11 and 12 April during peace efforts remained inconclusive. The second round could not take place on 20 April because Iran refused to participate. On April 25, the Iranian delegation reached Pakistan and on April 30, Iran presented its proposal in response to the American proposal. On May 18, a 14-point proposal was sent to America and America indicated relaxation in oil sanctions.
On May 22, the Pakistani Army Chief also visited Tehran, but no concrete agreement could be reached. On May 27, Trump said that either there would be a wonderful agreement or the path to war would open. Meanwhile, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz also remains critical. According to data intelligence firm Coupler, about 600 ships are still stranded in the Persian Gulf and waiting to be taken out, while on the other hand, hundreds of ships are standing idle waiting for their turn.
