Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the people of the Indian community in Paris on Thursday (18 June 2026), said that Paris is a city of colors, which is made more beautiful by the people coming from different states of India. During this, PM Modi mentioned the work done during his 12 years in office. He said that India’s GDP has doubled and it is the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.
‘In 12 years we built as many houses as there are in the whole of France’
PM Modi said, ‘The result of this progress of India is that today India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. In the last 12 years, 25 crore people in the country have come out of poverty. In the last 12 years, we have built more permanent houses for the needy than the total number of houses in France. Now every family, no matter how poor it is, has a bank account.
PM Modi said, ‘India’s GDP has doubled in the last 12 years. The number of airports has doubled. The number of universities has also doubled. The speed of highway construction increased three times. The metro network has become four times larger. Today the story of India is not just a story of economic progress. This is also a story of social transformation. In the last 12 years, 25 crore people in the country have come out of poverty.
The youth of today’s India are dreaming big: PM Modi
He said, ‘Among the achievements of these 12 years, there is one achievement which cannot be measured by any figure or number, that is the self-confidence of 140 crore Indians. Today’s India and the youth of today’s India are dreaming big. The farmer of India is moving forward with new possibilities. Women of India are showing new leadership. Therefore, this is not just 12 years of achievement, this has been a period of giving new heights to India’s aspirations.
PM Modi said, ‘This is a new era of India’s aspirations. Where electricity has reached, people do not just want electricity, they want smart living. Where rail has reached, people want high speed connectivity. Where the highway has reached, people want a world class expressway. Wherever the Internet reaches, people want leadership in AI and digital innovation. Today the people of India want to take their lives to the next level and it is their resolve to take India also to the next level.
