In the tri-series, Sri Lanka A players made remarks to provoke Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the victory against India A in the Super Over. After this, Vaibhav came towards those players and then there was even a scuffle. There are mixed reactions regarding this, some are supporting the 15 year old batsman while some are criticizing him for losing his temper. Now BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia’s reaction has also come on this.
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has made it clear that BCCI will not interfere in the matter of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s argument with Sri Lanka A players. He also said that under ICC rules the match referee and umpire take decisions. He told PTI, “There is a lot of talk on social media, including speculation that the BCCI is considering taking action. But do you want the BCCI to interfere in the jurisdiction of match referees?”
He made it clear that BCCI has no right to take or not take action in such cases. He said, “We should not interfere in an area where the match referee and umpires are the main authorities to take decisions about the incidents happening on the field. BCCI has no authority to take any action or interfere in the conduct of the game. Whatever happened was part of the game and under the BCCI rules and ICC rules, the board has no role in such matters.”

Saikia further said, “It is the responsibility of the match referee. If something goes wrong, the umpire or referee will take a decision. There is already a system in place for this. There are a lot of speculations, but they are baseless. I assure you that BCCI will not interfere in the jurisdiction of the match referee, who is the competent authority. If there is anything wrong related to any player or any cricket activity on the field, then only the concerned authorities will deal with it.”

Devjit Saikia believes that if BCCI does anything, it will be like interfering in the jurisdiction of the match referee, which the board will not do. Let us tell you that only India has confirmed its place in the final of the tri-series being played in Sri Lanka. To go to the final, Afghanistan will have to defeat Sri Lanka by a big margin in the match to be held on Friday, otherwise the final match will be between India A and Sri Lanka A.
