Strait of Hormuz: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Navy has issued a new warning for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. IRGC has said that currently the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz can be done only with the permission of Iran and through the coordinated sea routes decided by it. This warning was sent to the ships present in the Persian Gulf through radio transmitters. After the warning, many ships waiting to cross Hormuz turned back.
Trump’s claim, Hormuz is open unconditionally
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is open without any conditions. He says that Iran is allowing ships to pass through Hormuz without any toll and restrictions.
IRGC rejects Oman’s maritime corridor
This warning of IRGC came at a time when Oman issued a navigation notice and created two temporary sea corridors to the north and south of the existing traffic separation scheme. The Iranian Navy has rejected these corridors and called them dangerous. IRGC said that all ships should use only the sea route designated by Iran. The Iranian Navy warned that ships violating the rules may have to pay a heavy price.
Know how many ships went
According to maritime intelligence company Kpler, on June 24, the number of ships passing through this important sea route increased by 105 percent to 70, which included 53 commercial ships. This increase was recorded after the intensification of operations to remove landmines and the use of the alternative sea route near Oman.

Oman supports US-Iran agreement
On the other hand, Oman has supported the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between America and Iran. Oman also clarified that no additional duty will be imposed on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Oman’s Foreign Minister Syed Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said this during the joint ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and America held in Bahrain. Oman’s government news agency also confirmed this on social media platform X.
Oman’s emphasis on peace and safe navigation
Oman said the agreement between the US and Iran is important for establishing peace in the region, restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring the safe movement of ships. The Foreign Minister said that being a country adjacent to Hormuz, Oman has a special responsibility to support international maritime security efforts. He said that Oman is following its responsibilities under international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
