The premium electric SUV segment is growing rapidly in India. Now customers have more options than before. The recently launched Tata Sierra EV has created a new stir in this segment. Its direct competition is being considered with Mahindra XEV 9e, which is already popular among the people due to its long range, technology and great design. Car price and range

The starting ex-showroom price of Tata Sierra EV is Rs 18.79 lakh, while its top variant goes up to Rs 25.99 lakh. On the other hand, the starting price of Mahindra XEV 9e is around Rs 21.90 lakh and the price of its top variant reaches around Rs 30.50 lakh. That means, if your budget is a bit limited then Sierra EV emerges as a more affordable option.

Both SUVs are quite strong in terms of battery and driving range. Tata Sierra EV has two battery options of 63kWh and 75kWh. According to the company, its large battery pack gives a claimed range of up to 665 kilometers on a single full charge. Whereas Mahindra XEV 9e has the option of 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack, whose range is about 656 kilometers. Both the vehicles are perfect for long distance travel and there is less need for frequent charging.

Sierra EV charging and features

Tata Sierra EV has support for 120kW DC fast charging. The company claims that this SUV can give a range of up to 263 kilometers in just 15 minutes of charging and the battery takes about 26 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%. Mahindra

Talking about the features, both electric SUVs are equipped with modern technology. Tata Sierra EV has digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, 540-degree camera, auto park, ADAS, connected car technology and many advanced safety features. On the other hand, Mahindra In terms of features, Mahindra XEV 9e gives a slightly more premium feel, while Sierra EV is also equipped with almost all the necessary modern features.

If we talk about performance, QWD system is available in the top variant of Tata Sierra EV, which gives better grip and strong acceleration with dual motor setup. Mahindra XEV 9e is also known for its fast speed, smooth driving and excellent handling. Both the SUVs come with different driving modes and modern electric powertrains, which provide a good driving feel both in the city and on the highway.
