The central government has appointed senior IAS officer Lokande Prashant Sitaram as the chairperson of CBSE. His journey from engineering to administrative service has been quite inspiring. Let us know from where he studied and what is his educational qualification.
CBSE Chairperson Lokande Prashant Sitaram, after completing his primary studies, obtained Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University. After this, to further strengthen his technical understanding, he did Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai. Technical education and management studies gave him the ability to take better decisions in administrative service. That is why he got the opportunity to work on important administrative posts in the country.
IAS officer of 2001 batch
Lokande Prashant Sitaram is a 2001 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. AGMUT cadre includes Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories. During his administrative experience of more than two decades, he has held responsibilities in many important departments.
In which positions have you worked?
Before getting the responsibility of CBSE, he was working as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Apart from this, he has also served as Deputy Commissioner in Arunachal Pradesh, Director in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Counselor (Economics) in the Indian Embassy in Beijing. He has also held important responsibilities in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Processing.

Why was CBSE Chairperson made?
The government has appointed Lokande Prashant Sitaram as the chairperson of CBSE at a time when there was a controversy regarding the on-screen marking (OSM) system of the board. Following the complaints of the students, the government ordered an investigation and made administrative changes at the top level of the board.
Have received many honors
In his long administrative career, Lokande Prashant Sitaram has been awarded the State Award (Gold) for Meritorious Service twice for his excellent services. This honor is given to officers who have done excellent administrative work.
