PM Yashasvi Yojana 2026: Every student dreams of getting a good education, but for many families the increasing education expenses become a big challenge. It is not easy for everyone to bear the expenses of fees, books, hostel and other essential needs. In such a situation, the Central Government’s PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme (PM YASASVI Yojana) has brought great relief to the financially weak but good students in studies. Under this scheme, financial assistance ranging from Rs 75 thousand to Rs 1.25 lakh is given to eligible students every year, so that the students can continue their studies without financial problems. The application process for the financial year 2026-27 has started and eligible students can apply within the stipulated time limit.
What is PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme?
PM Yashasvi Yojana is a scholarship scheme of the Central Government, which is run by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance for studies to students from economically weak families. Under this, students are given assistance for fees, books, stationery and other necessary expenses related to studies, so that the financial burden of education on families can be reduced.
How much financial assistance is available?
Under the scheme, a scholarship of Rs 75,000 per year is given to students studying in classes 9 and 10. Whereas students of class 11 and 12 get assistance up to Rs 1,25,000 per year. Apart from this, students pursuing higher education or professional courses are also given financial assistance in tuition fees, book expenses, hostel fees and other expenses related to studies. In some cases, living expenses and necessary educational materials, such as laptops, are also provided.
Who can apply?
To avail the benefit of this scheme, the student must belong to OBC, Economically Backward Class (EBC) or Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribe (DNT) community. Along with this, the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The student should be studying in class 9 or class 11 and his school board should be giving 100 percent results continuously. Students fulfilling all these conditions will be eligible to apply.

When is the last date of application?
The application process for the financial year 2026-27 has started. Both new and renewal applications are being made from June 1, 2026. The last date for application has been fixed as 31 August 2026. After this, the educational institutions will verify the applications till 15 September 2026, while the last date for verification at the ministry level has been fixed as 30 November 2026.
How to apply?
To apply, first of all you have to go to the official website of NTA and select the Register option. After this, you will have to register by filling the necessary information like name, email ID, date of birth and password. After completion of registration, PDF related to the application can be downloaded, in which the application number will be given. The scholarship amount of the selected students will be sent directly to their bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), so that the fees and other expenses related to studies can be easily met.
