In Bihar, there have been reports of theft of bridges and culverts and sometimes of mobile towers. Now the wire itself has been stolen from the railway line in Jehanabad. This is the case near Madarpur Railway Gumti of Patna-Gaya railway section. As soon as this news came out on Thursday (July 09, 2026) morning, it became a topic of discussion.
It is said that thieves cut about 35 meters of overhead high-tension wire of 25 thousand volts. Due to this, the operation of trains on the downline came to a halt for about 3 hours on Thursday morning. Due to this the passengers had to face a lot of trouble.
…and the system failed
The whole matter is at some distance from Jehanabad railway station. As soon as the thieves cut the large spin wire, the signal system and OHE line of Danapur Railway Division was affected. When the system failed, ECR technical team and RPF immediately reached the spot.
After hours of hard work, the team replaced the damaged wire and completed the repair work, after which operations were restored. Meanwhile, due to disruption in power supply on the downline, many major trains including Palamu Express and Hatia-Patna Express remained standing at various places.

Here, senior technician Asundha Rahi said that around 3:30 in the morning, thieves had cut the large spin wire, information about which we received from Danapur Railway Division. As soon as the information was received, our team reached the spot and repaired the large spin wire and normalized the operations. Due to wire theft, operations on the downline were disrupted for about 3 hours, due to which many trains were affected. At present the situation is normal.
RPF recovered the wire
Meanwhile, local resident Mukesh Gautam raised questions on the security arrangements of the Railways. Said that this incident is a case of complete negligence. However, RPF has recovered the cut wire from a nearby pit. RPF has started scanning the CCTV cameras installed in the area so that this gang of thieves can be exposed.
