Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian cricket team has lost the series to England. England has taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 5-match series. Many weaknesses of India were visible in the entire series. From batting to bowling, everything was a flop. After suffering a shameful defeat of 125 runs in the third T20 and losing by 9 wickets in the fourth T20, now the time has come for a complete analysis of this team. What were the reasons for the defeat, did lack of experience become the reason for the defeat or something else?
8 players played in English conditions for the first time!
There are 8 players including Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, who never played T20 in England before this series. It includes Abhishek, Prasidh Krishna with Tilak, Shivam Dubey, Washington Sundar, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sanju Samson. This is Suryansh Shedge’s first tour of England with the national team.
There were only 5 players, including Shreyas Iyer, who had played T20 International in England before. Shreyas, Akshar Patel, Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi had played T20 in England before this series. So did India lose because of experience? No, it cannot be said like that.
Why did India lose?
Of course, most of the players are playing T20 series for the first time in English conditions, but it cannot be said that this team is inexperienced. Shreyas Iyer called it a transition phase, that also seems wrong because most of the players of this team have been playing international for a long time. Most of the players playing T20 International for the first time in England have played here at other levels, many have even played county cricket. Vaibhav Suryavanshi himself has played here before. So it would not be right to say that this team lacked experience.

India’s top order flop
After the first match against England, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened in all three matches, but both could not get a good start in any of them. Abhishek, who scored 43 runs in the second T20, was out after scoring 10 and 16 runs in the third and fourth T20 respectively. Vaibhav scored a total of 42 runs (14, 13 and 15) in all three matches.
Looking at Ishan Kishan, it did not seem that he is the number-1 batsman in the recent T20 rankings. After being out for zero in the first match, he scored 49 runs in the second match, but was out cheaply again in the third (13) and fourth (4) matches.

Vice-captain’s bat remained silent, all-rounders also disappointed
Shreyas Iyer had scored 68 runs in the first match, however that match was cancelled. He flopped in the second (37) and third (5) T20, but his bat flourished in the fourth match. He scored an unbeaten 80 runs, although no one else walked except him. Tilak Verma’s bat remained silent in the entire series, it got to the point that there was talk of dropping the vice-captain as well.
Tilak Verma has scored only 51 runs in 4 innings. Shivam Dubey has a big responsibility in the middle overs, but this all-rounder also did not play in any of the matches except the first match. He scored 42 runs in the first match, but could not even touch double figures in the next two innings. Got out after scoring 5 runs in the second match and 2 runs in the third match. Even in the fourth match he could score only 22 runs.
Trust was shown on Akshar Patel in all four matches, he also has a lot of experience. He had played in England’s conditions, but did not get any benefit from it. He scored 16 runs in 4 innings and took 2 wickets in 3 matches.
Lack of experience seen in bowling
Prince Yadav does not have experience, but he did well in the debut match against Ireland. Still, he was not played in the first two matches against England. He took 2 wickets in the third T20 played against England, but he could not take any wicket in the fourth match.

Ravi Bishnoi proved to be very expensive in the second T20, he gave away 60 runs in which 29 runs were given away in a single over. However, he was among those 5 players who had played T20 in England before. But after this he was dropped. Varun Chakraborty could take only 1 wicket in 2 innings, he could not even control the runs. He conceded 37 runs in the first match and 35 runs in the second, as a result he was dropped and Washington Sundar was brought in.
Arshdeep Singh can be called the most experienced bowler in this team, although he too has not been very effective. He took 3 wickets in the second T20, but could not take any wicket in the third match. He got the only wicket in the fourth match.
