Why are banks closed on second Saturday?
According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), all government and private banks across the country remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Apart from this, every Sunday is also a bank holiday. At the same time, banks remain closed in the respective states even on national and state level festivals. In such a situation, due to 11th July 2026 being the second Saturday, regular banking services will not be available in the branches.
Which tasks cannot be done today?
Due to bank branches being closed today, customers will have to wait for many services. Going to the bank to deposit or withdraw cash, depositing cheques, printing passbooks, making demand drafts, locker related work, KYC update and other work done at the branch level will not be possible today. Which banking services will remain operational?
Although bank branches are closed, there will be no impact on digital banking services. Customers will be able to use UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, IMPS, NEFT and ATM as before. Online fund transfer, payment of electricity and water bills, mobile recharge, payment through QR code and other digital transactions will continue as normal. If needed, customers can also withdraw cash from ATM.
When will the banks open now?
Today is Sunday, 12th July, after the second Saturday holiday, hence banks will remain closed on that day also. In such a situation, if your work can be done only from the bank branch, then you will have to wait till Monday, July 13, 2026. From Monday, banks across the country will reopen as per their regular timings and all branch related services will start as normal.
