With increase in humidity during rains, fungal attack and many types of diseases can spread rapidly. Therefore, keep inspecting the field regularly. If early signs of disease are seen in any plant, do not ignore it. Immediately seek advice from agricultural experts and use the right medicine so that the disease does not spread to the entire field.
During the rainy season, waste grass grows very fast in the fields. It snatches away the essential nutrition from the sugarcane crop and slows down the growth of the plants. Therefore, keep cleaning and weeding the field from time to time. With this, the crop will get good air and sunlight and the risk of disease will also be less.
If the sugarcane plants have reached a good height, then add soil near their roots. This keeps the plants strong and the chances of them falling in strong wind or heavy rain are greatly reduced.
