Former Tamil Nadu BJP state president K Annamalai reached Coimbatore on Sunday (12 July 2026). He has come here to address the first major conference of his new political organization We the Leaders. This program is being organized under the Drug-Free Tamil Nadu campaign. This program organized under the name Drug-Free Pollachi Awareness Conference is going to be held in Pollachi today (July 12). This is the first major public program of We the Leaders, an organization started by Annamalai after leaving BJP. For this reason it is being considered important in the politics of Tamil Nadu.
Before the program, Amar Prasad Reddy, a supporter of Annamalai’s organization and former state secretary of Tamil Nadu BJP, said that this conference is being organized in a completely different way. He told that no formal invitation has been sent to anyone for this program, nor has any kind of VIP or VVIP pass been arranged. Amar Prasad Reddy said that he has organized many big programs while being in BJP, but this program is different from all of them. He told that no one has been called personally, those who want to listen to Annamalai are attending the program of their own free will.

Statement of former BJP state secretary Amar Prasad Reddy
Former BJP state secretary Amar Prasad Reddy also said that Annamalai has not specially invited anyone, including her core committee members. Every person is reaching the program of his own free will, which is the biggest feature of this conference. Preparations for this conference had started last week itself. The traditional Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was held at the venue located on Pollachi-Coimbatore Road. Hundreds of workers and supporters participated in this ceremony.
During the programme, the foundation pillar was installed at an auspicious time, which is called Muhurta Kaal in local tradition. In the conference, special emphasis will be laid on spreading awareness against the increasing use of addiction and drugs. Along with this, We the Leaders organization can also outline its future political agenda and its plans for Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai had announced to leave the membership of BJP.
On June 5 this year, former IPS officer and leader K Annamalai had announced to leave the membership of BJP. He had told that his new political organization will take part in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. After Annamalai left BJP, senior party leader and Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Karu Nagarajan also resigned from the party. Later he joined Annamalai’s new organization We the Leaders. This first conference is considered very important for Annamalai. Through this program, he is going to present the thinking, direction and political strategy of his new organization before the public. Therefore, this conference is being seen as the beginning of a new chapter in his political journey.
