Not America and Israel, but the European country UK has taken major action against Iran. The UK government has announced that it will declare Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This will further increase diplomatic tension with Tehran.

According to The Guardian, the Home Ministry said on Monday that after years of political debate on this issue, it will ban support for the IRGC. This is the main branch of the Iranian Army.

IRGC is being banned after many threats

The government has argued that IRGC is being banned after several threats on UK soil. These threats include a conspiracy to assassinate two journalists of Iran International Television and cyber attacks on British targets. This step has reversed the decision of the Conservative Party. In which it was decided not to ban the organization. Now giving any kind of support to it will be considered a crime.

This step is being considered as a unilateral ban. However, that is not exactly the case legally. The ministers are also likely to outlaw the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right (IMCR) and the Russian Federation Volunteer Corps, the international branch of the Russian military intelligence agency. IMCR is accused of carrying out several attacks on Jewish targets in the UK.

What has the Home Ministry said in the statement?

The statement from the Home Office said that after careful consideration of all the evidence, the Home Minister came to the conclusion that there are sufficient grounds to believe that all these organizations are involved in threatening activities on behalf of foreign powers. To protect the security and interests of the UK, it is necessary to ban all these.
