The hope of the comeback of Suryakumar Yadav, who is out of the Indian T20 team, is not over yet. According to a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), if Suryakumar continues to score runs in domestic cricket, then the doors of Team India are still open for him. Suryakumar Yadav, who made India the champion in T20 World Cup 2026, was out of the team after poor form. The captaincy of the T20 team was also withdrawn from him and he was not selected for the tour of Ireland and England. In his place, Shreyas Iyer was given the command of the team.
What did the BCCI source say?
NDTV quoted a BCCI source as saying, ‘Team India’s doors are still open for Suryakumar Yadav. At present, he is not a part of the team’s current plans, but if he continues to score runs in domestic cricket, he will be fully eligible for a comeback.
The team did not get benefit under the captaincy of Shreyas
The performance of the Indian team under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer could not live up to the expectations. India first lost the T20 series against Ireland 2-0. After this, even on the England tour, the team had to face a 4-0 defeat in the five-match T20 series. The first match was canceled due to rain. India lost by 56 runs in the fifth T20 played in Southampton. Earlier, the team had lost by 9 wickets in the fourth match, by 125 runs in the third and by 4 wickets in the second match.

The defeat against Ireland was India’s first T20 bilateral series defeat against that team.
