- Thousands of people were killed in these protests.
Amid rising conflict and tension with America in West Asia, Iran has taken a major action, but this action is not against any other country, but to hang a person under Iranian law. In fact, Iran has hanged a person convicted for his alleged role in the anti-government protests that took place in January this year.
According to Iran’s judiciary, the man who was hanged was found guilty of allegedly taking part in protests that spread across the country during the winter. Mohammad Amini Dehghani was described as an enemy assistant, the Iranian judiciary’s press agency reported. After the case was fully confirmed by the Supreme Court, he was hanged on the morning of Wednesday (July 15, 2026).
For which crimes was the person convicted??
According to the report, Mohammad Amini Dehghani was convicted on charges like Mohrebeh (warring against God) and spreading corruption on earth. These charges are considered serious crimes under Iranian law.
According to Iran’s state media, Mohammad Amini Dehghani threw a Molotov cocktail outside the governor’s office in Dehghan city on January 9, which caused a fire there and caused significant damage to public property as well as the city’s police station.
More than three thousand people died during protests in Iran
At the same time, the protests that started against rising inflation in Iran at the end of December 2025 spread rapidly across the country. Later these protests also took the form of political demands. Iranian security forces took strict action against these protests, due to which human rights organizations say that thousands of people have been killed.
Iranian officials described these incidents as a riot instigated with the support of America and Israel and claimed that about 3000 people died in the violence. At the same time, international human rights organizations have stated that the number of deaths in these incidents is much higher than this. They allege that the security forces opened fire on the protesters, resulting in the death of a large number of people.
