120 scientists resigning from ISRO every year
According to reports, 100 to 120 scientists have left ISRO in recent months. These include many experienced scientists from UR Rao Satellite Center and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. Some officers are also associated with Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan-3 and other major missions. In view of the situation, the Space Department has issued a new internal instruction on July 14. Now resignation or VRS of Group A scientists working on Gaganyaan and other projects of national importance will not be approved under the normal procedure. The final decision in all such cases will be taken at the central level. It is believed that due to the rapidly growing private space sector in India, the demand for experienced scientists has increased. Whereas private companies are offering better salaries and leadership roles, due to which scientists are turning to the private sector.
How to get a job in ISRO
If you also dream of becoming a scientist or engineer in ISRO, then first of all you should have Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects in 12th. After this, candidates can do BE, B.Tech or related degree in subjects like Electronic, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical, Civil, Aerospace, Engineering or Physics. ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board conducts recruitment process from time to time for recruitment to scientist and engineer posts. For most posts, at least 65 percent or prescribed CGPA is required. Selection in ISRO is done on the basis of written examination, interview and document verification. Apart from this, students studying from Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology also have more chances of getting opportunities in ISRO.
What is the salary of ISRO scientists?
The starting salary for the post of Scientist in ISRO is at Pay Level 10 as per the Seventh Pay Commission. Basic salary is Rs 56,100 per month. Along with this, other facilities including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance, professional update allowance, NPS contribution are also available. In such a situation, the total monthly salary can range from around Rs 95,000 to more than Rs 1 lakh depending on the place of posting and children. Along with the promotion of scientists, the salary is also increased.

How is the work environment and shift timing in ISRO?
Normal working timings in ISRO are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If needed, scientists also work overtime as per the projects. Here one has to work 5 days a week and have 2 days off. There is a ban on carrying mobile phones in the office premises. Scientists in the institute are also provided with a research based environment, accommodation, health facilities, transportation and other employee benefits.
Rules for resignation in ISRO
Earlier, the directors of various centers of ISRO could approve the status and voluntary retirement of scientists to some extent, but after the new instructions, the status of scientists associated with Gaganyaan and other important national missions will not be directly approved. The director of the concerned center will send the application with his recommendation to the Department of Space, where the final decision will be taken.
