After Rohit, Virat can also retire, big claim from Pakistan, all eyes on Lord’s ODI

Discussions regarding the future of senior players in Indian cricket are continuously increasing. Meanwhile, former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has made such a claim, which has sparked a new debate. He says that after the third and last ODI against England to be played at Lord’s, along with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli can also announce his retirement from international cricket. There is already a lot of speculation about Rohit’s ODI future and it is believed that he is seriously considering his next step.

What did Basit Ali say about Rohit?

On his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said that as long as Rohit Sharma’s performance is worthy of keeping his place in the team, he should keep playing. He believes that a player should not be assessed only on the basis of a few matches or recent results.

He said, ‘If Rohit is continuously performing well then he should continue playing. It would not be right to take a decision only on the basis of two England matches or Gautam Gambhir’s likes and dislikes. If this happens then we will have to think about Virat Kohli from the same perspective.

Virat’s decision may also be affected

Basit Ali believes that the environment being created around Rohit Sharma can also influence Virat Kohli’s decision. He said that just as Virat had also said goodbye to Test cricket a few days after Rohit’s retirement from Test cricket, in the same way both the players can once again take a big decision together.

A big announcement may be made at Lord’s

Basit Ali said, ‘If today is Rohit’s turn, next time it could be Virat’s too. Looking at the way Virat had retired from Test cricket, there is every possibility that both the players may announce their retirement together at Lord’s.
