BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, while speaking to PTI, said that there has been no discussion that Rohit Sharma will play his last international match at Lord’s. According to him, Rohit will continue to play in future also. But then the question arises that why is so much pressure being put on Rohit? Why are the sources related to BCCI giving such news, why are they bringing such things in the media which will put pressure on the ‘Hitman’. Is this his last chance at Lord’s Cricket Ground? In which by doing well he can remain in the team and if he flops then he is out.
Rohit Sharma’s record in limited overs at Lord’s Cricket Ground has not been good anyway. In the 2 ODIs played here, he scored 15 runs, which were scored in a single match. In other matches he was out on zero. In T20 also, he played 2 matches on this ground, scoring 5 runs in one match and 9 runs in the other. Rohit played 4 matches in white ball cricket at Lord’s, scoring only 29 runs in total.
Is Rohit Sharma given the last chance at Lord’s?
There is no smoke without fire. Of course BCCI is denying the news of Rohit’s retirement, but still the biggest question is why people associated with BCCI are bringing such things in the media. This is putting additional pressure on Rohit Sharma who is out of form. If he does not do well even at Lord’s, it is possible that the selectors may not drop him but before that he himself may retire. Although Rohit wants to play till 2027 World Cup, but the circumstances do not seem to change.

Rohit Sharma has played 8 ODI matches in 2026, in which only one half-century has come against Afghanistan. Six times he could not even touch the figure of 30. His last century with the bat came against Australia in October last year. His bat remained silent in the first two matches of the ongoing series against England, he was seen struggling and it was clearly visible that he was playing under pressure. In the first ODI, he played 21 balls to score 11 runs, in the second match he played 47 balls and scored 26 runs. This does not suit his batting style.
