Earthquake in Mexico: The earth has shaken due to a strong earthquake in Mexico. On Friday, a massive earthquake occurred on the southern Pacific coast near the border of Guatemala. Coastal areas are being monitored
Elmer Vazquez Gallardo, mayor of Suchiate, a city located along the river that separates Mexico and Guatemala, said coastal areas were being monitored for any tsunami threat. The earthquake in Tapachula, the main city located on the southern border of Mexico, was mild at first, then intensified.
“We were on the second floor when the shaking started,” Alejandra Mendoza, an administrative worker at a government hospital in the city, told the AP. We thought it would pass. But then the shocks intensified. So we all came down and went into the courtyard.
People in Guatemala City became nervous due to the prolonged duration of the earthquake. Buildings shook and cracked in some areas in Mexico City. Earthquake alert did not sound. According to the government, the earthquake did not exceed the prescribed limit in the first few seconds. The impact of the earthquake was felt greatly in this area. There is no news of any major damage.
