BCCI has told, will Rohit Sharma play after Lord’s ODI or not? lifted the curtain from the truth

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put an end to the rumors floating on Rohit Sharma’s retirement. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has made it clear that Rohit Sharma will continue to play for Team India even after the Lord’s ODI against England. Actually, it was claimed in media reports that Rohit Sharma will take retirement from ODI format after the third ODI against England, but BCCI has termed these reports as false.

Speaking to news agency PTI, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, “There is a lot of speculation in the media about the future of Rohit Sharma. I want to say with full confidence that there has been no such discussion that Rohit will play his last match at Lord’s on Sunday.”

This statement of Devjit Saikia has come at a time when media reports claimed that the selectors and coach Gautam Gambhir have excluded Rohit Sharma from the plans of 2027 ODI World Cup. There were speculations that the team management wants to give a chance to the youth and Rohit Sharma may be shown the way out to give Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance in the opening.

Rohit Sharma will continue to play further

The BCCI secretary further said, “Rohit Sharma is a regular part of the Indian ODI team and as long as he is included in the future plans, he will continue to represent the country. In other words, this will not be his last match at Lord’s.”

If we look at the series, after completion of 2 matches, India and England are on equal footing. The third and deciding match of the series between both the teams will be played on July 19 at the historic Lord’s ground.
