‘Government did not spare anyone’, Mallikarjun Kharge said when Delhi Police removed Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk was admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday (July 18, 2026) after her health deteriorated on the 21st day of her indefinite fast. According to Delhi Police, following the advice of doctors and the instructions of the Delhi High Court, he was taken to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

After this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the central government on social media platform X. He wrote in his post that Professor G. From D. Aggarwal, who fasted unto death for 111 days to save Ganga, to Haryana’s Olympic wrestlers, 750 farmer agitators, Dalits, tribals and students and their families affected by the paper leak cases, no one was spared by the government.

Another black spot on democracy and constitution – Congress President

Kharge alleged that in the eyes of the government, anyone who raises his voice is called anti-national or parasite. He said that whatever has happened at Jantar Mantar is another black spot on democracy and the Constitution. The Congress President also mentioned the students’ movements in his post. He said that the sound of “students’ echo” which started from Kota and Dehradun will definitely reach Delhi.

Sonam Wangchuk was on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the last several days on various issues. Amidst reports of his health continuously deteriorating, he has been admitted to the hospital. At the same time, his supporters are appealing to the government to start talks and pay attention to their demands.
