The superhit film ‘OMG 2’, released in the year 2023, has once again come into the headlines. The controversy that started regarding the credit of the story of the film is not stopping. Recently, in a podcast, Paresh Rawal had claimed that the idea of the story of ‘OMG 2’ was his, but he was not given credit for it. After this statement, the film’s co-producer Ashwin Varde and director Amit Rai rejected Paresh Rawal’s claims. Not only this, Ashwin Varde accused Paresh Rawal that Paresh Rawal had tried to make this film with other stars by bypassing Akshay Kumar.
I have no problem with Akshay Kumar…
Now Paresh Rawal has spoken openly on all these allegations. He told that everything is fine between him and Akshay Kumar. In a special conversation with Hindustan Times, Paresh Rawal said, ‘Hey brother, Akshay and I are working together in ‘Bhagam Part 2’, which is Ashwin Varde’s film. We have just done ‘Bhoot Bangla’ together. I really don’t have any problem with Akshay. Why would that happen?’
Paresh Rawal said this on ‘OMG 2’ controversy
Paresh told that Akshay Kumar had also persuaded him to do ‘OMG 2’, but he refused. Paresh said, ‘I told Akshay that this is not the right topic. The audience will not be able to digest God being brought in while talking about sex in the film. However, he made the film and it was successful, which I am happy about. But my point is still the same that there was no need of God in that script.
‘I just wanted credit for the idea’
Responding to the statements of the film’s director Amit Rai and producer Ashwin Varde, Paresh Rawal said that he has an old relationship with Amit Rai and he is a hardworking writer. Paresh said, ‘I told Amit one day that a film can be made on sex education. I came up with the idea of a little boy who masturbates. The conversation started from there. I had suggested that one should also meet sexologist Dr. Prakash Kothari for correct information on this subject, because it is important to have facts in it.
What did Paresh Rawal say?
Paresh further said, ‘I am not saying that I have written the film. Only Amit Rai’s name is registered as a writer in the Screenwriters Association, but when people come together and share ideas, the idea of that concept was mine. I only wanted his credit, not money. I never said that Amit did not write the film.
