West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach touched the figure of 300 wickets in Tests during the match against Sri Lanka. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has decided to formally honor him for this historic achievement.
The event will take place during the innings break of the fifth and final ODI series between the West Indies and New Zealand at the Kensington Oval on Tuesday, which will be attended by representatives of the Barbados Government and the Barbados Cricket Association along with CWI to celebrate Roach’s achievement.
Roach has recently become the fifth player from West Indies and the second player from Barbados to achieve the milestone of 300 wickets in Tests. By achieving this feat, Kemar Roach joined the exclusive club of great Caribbean bowlers, which includes Courtney Walsh (519), Sir Curtly Ambrose (405), Malcolm Marshall (376) and Lance Gibbs (305).

CWI President Kishore Shallow said, “For more than two decades, Kemar has brilliantly represented the West Indies. Whenever he has donned the maroon cap, he has shown extraordinary skill, passion and determination. He has been a great ambassador for Caribbean cricket and has been an inspiration to generations of young fast bowlers. I am personally delighted to see one of this generation’s players whose unwavering commitment and extraordinary contribution have made him an icon for our game.” He has been given his rightful place among the greats. Kemar Roach made his Test debut against Bangladesh in the year 2009, after which he proved himself to be the main player of the bowling attack on the basis of his excellent control, late movement and consistently accurate bowling. Roach took 300 wickets in 89 Test matches at an average of 26.83, which also included the feat of ‘five wicket haul’ 12 times. Roach has also taken 10 wickets in a match once.
