T20 series can be played between India and Afghanistan in the month of September. According to ESPN Cricinfo, these three matches can be played on September 13, September 15 and September 17, but no decision has been taken yet regarding the venue. BCCI or Afghanistan Cricket Board has not yet confirmed this series.
In the next few months, the Indian team has to play a lot of matches in all three formats. Currently the T20 team is on Zimbabwe tour, after which a Test series against Sri Lanka and then an ODI and T20 series against West Indies are also to be played. Meanwhile, Asian Games will also be played in the end of September and early week of October.
It is being told that India vs Afghanistan T20 series can be organized before the Asian Games and after the end of the Sri Lanka series. Let us tell you that this will be a home series for Afghanistan. However, the matches between both the teams will be played in India only. The Afghan team has been regularly playing its home matches in India and Lucknow, Dehradun and Greater Noida have been its home grounds.
Earlier in June, the Afghanistan team had visited India, where one Test and three ODI matches were played between the two teams. Team India had won the Test by an innings and 300 runs, while the Indian team had also won the ODI series by 3-0.
This series will also be very important for Team India, which is currently on Zimbabwe tour. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian T20 team has suffered series defeats against Ireland and then England.
