UP Free Scooty Scheme: Many state governments run various schemes to encourage children to study. Similarly, the Uttar Pradesh government has also taken a big decision for meritorious girl students. Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Under this scheme, meritorious girl students completing their graduation will be given free petrol scooters, so that they can easily commute to college and get encouragement to continue their graduation studies. A total of 16 major proposals of many departments including women’s welfare, higher education, transport, home, cooperation have been approved in the cabinet meeting. Among these, the Scooty scheme for girl students was included in the most important announcements.
Which students will get the benefit of the scheme?
According to the government, the benefit of Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme will be available to those girl students who have completed graduation. Under the scheme, the annual income of the family must be less than Rs 12 lakh. Apart from this, the top 5 percent girl students of every university and college will be given this benefit. The government has also made it clear that priority will be given to disabled girl students, daughters of martyrs and daughters of destitute families. Relaxation in the income limit conditions will also be given for these categories.
Claim to make education easier for girl students
The state government says that the main objective of the scheme is to reduce the transportation related problems of girl students and to encourage them for higher education. The government believes that this will provide facility to the students, especially from remote areas, to go to college and the situation of dropping out of studies will reduce.
The government will also bear the registration fees and vehicle insurance.
According to Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, the government will bear the registration fees and vehicle insurance. The minister said that each beneficiary will also get a helmet and essential accessories and 5 liters of petrol along with the scooter. Apart from this, the Education Minister also said that the government took the decision to provide petrol-powered scooties because servicing facilities and fuel stations are more widely available across the state. He said that the purchase of scooters will be done through a selection process based on the proposals invited through a special portal.

Eligibility for Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme
To avail the benefit of Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme of Uttar Pradesh Government, the annual income of the family of girl students should not be more than Rs 12 lakh. Apart from this, the student should be a permanent resident of UP. The student should have studied from any recognized college of UP, apart from this, he should be in the top five in the college university in the graduate exam.
