When Prabhu Yadav was doing ‘Goverdhan Parikrama’ in Mathura, his son Mayank Yadav was bowling brilliantly at Harare Sports Club. This 24 year old fast bowler, who was making a comeback after two years, took 2 wickets for 18 runs. He took the wicket of Brian Bennett on the very first ball of the first T20I match against Zimbabwe. Earlier this year, Bennett had put India in trouble by scoring a brilliant 97 runs in the T20 World Cup.
TOI spoke to Prabhu Yadav and he said, “How did he put it? I didn’t even watch the match. I had just come to Mathura last night. Now I am coming back after doing the parikrama of Lord Govardhan. I just asked that he remain fit. The last two years have been very difficult for the child.”

Prabhu Yadav, who works in a factory in Okhla to make sirens for ambulances and police vehicles, is very happy to hear about his son’s performance. Let us tell you that Mayank Yadav brought Zimbabwe’s batsmen to their knees with his deadly bowling.
Mayank’s brilliant performance
The match started with a wicket, when Mayank Yadav dismissed Brian Bennett on the very first ball. Mayank has become the fourth Indian bowler to have taken a wicket two or more times on the first ball of a T20 innings. Before him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya have done this thrice each, while Arshdeep Singh has taken wicket on the first ball of T20 innings on two occasions. Mayank took two wickets in this match.
Mayank made his international debut on 6 October 2024 in the T20 match played against Bangladesh. He played all three matches of the series, taking 4 wickets in 3 innings. During this period he had scored runs at an economy of 6.91. Mayank got injured after this series. Due to injury, he could not participate properly in IPL. He also had to stay out of Team India for a long time. Now after a long wait of more than 2 years, Mayank has returned to Team India.
