LPG Rate Today on July 24: It was informed by the government on Thursday that despite the huge increase in international LPG prices due to the crisis in West Asia in June this year, a hidden subsidy of more than Rs 700 was being given on a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder, due to which the retail prices remained affordable for the customers. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi said in Parliament that despite the huge increase in gas prices in the international market, the government is not allowing the burden to fall on the general public.
What is the real price of the cylinder?
Amidst global uncertainties and geopolitical tensions, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder has increased to more than Rs 1600. Whereas consumers are getting the same cylinder for Rs 942. That is, to bridge this gap in prices, the government and government oil companies are themselves incurring a loss of more than Rs 700 per cylinder so that the budget of common families does not get spoiled.
The ministry said that after the conflict started in West Asia, LPG prices increased rapidly across the world. The Saudi contract price (Saudi CP), the international benchmark for LPG prices, increased to US$ 780 per metric ton in April and May 2026 and further increased to US$ 796 per metric ton in June. The ministry said that based on these international prices, the market-determined price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in June is Rs 1695. For this huge discount, a payment of Rs 30,000 crore was also made to the oil companies during the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Double profits to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme
The government sends a direct subsidy of Rs 300 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in their bank accounts. Apart from this, subsidy of Rs 700 is also being provided indirectly. That means they are getting a benefit of up to Rs 1000 per cylinder because Ujjwala beneficiaries get a cylinder for Rs 642.
What is the price of LPG today?
Today there has been no change in the prices of gas cylinders in the country. The prices of domestic as well as commercial cylinders have not been changed today. With this, the price of domestic cylinder in Delhi is Rs 942 and the price of commercial cylinder is Rs 2930. Similarly, the price of domestic and commercial cylinder in Mumbai is Rs 941.50 and Rs 2882 respectively. In Bengaluru, the price of domestic cylinder is Rs 948.50 and the price of commercial cylinder is Rs 3006.
