A screenshot of a post in the name of Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli is going viral on social media platform X. It is being claimed that Virat has expressed his opinion regarding the examinations, transparency and merit system of the students. After the screenshot went viral, many users started sharing it considering it to be true. However, this is completely fake.
What is written in the viral post?
The viral screenshot claims that students deserve a fair examination system and a transparent system. Also, officials have been asked to take immediate action on their complaints. Many people got confused because Virat Kohli’s name, his profile photo and blue tick were visible in the screenshot.
Truth revealed in fact check
During investigation, it was found that the viral post was not made from the official X account of Virat Kohli. The username seen in the screenshot was @Highonchurma, while Virat Kohli’s official and verified X handle is @imVkohli. Actually, a user using the premium feature of X temporarily changed his name and profile photo to look like Virat Kohli and then posted this. This was the reason due to which this post seemed real to many people.
Why is it important to check username?
It is not right to accept a post as genuine just by seeing its name, photo or blue tick on social media. One should always check the actual username (handle) of the account before trusting any viral screenshot. In this case, no such post related to students’ examinations or examination system has been shared on the official social media account of Virat Kohli.
