Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Kannada star Yash are all set to completely dominate the big screen. The much awaited film ‘Ramayana’ of both the stars will be released on Diwali this year. Currently, fans are waiting for its trailer and in the meantime, the team of Ramayana participated in a panel for ‘Ramayana’ at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.
In this event, Ranbir Kapoor talked about his character of Lord Ram in Ramayana and getting the offer for it. He told that after getting the offer of Ramayana, he was very scared and very doubtful. On the other hand, Yash praised Ranbir Kapoor.
Ranbir said- ‘There was a lot of fear and doubt’
Along with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, Ramayan producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitish Tiwari also participated in this event. During this, Ranbir was asked what he thinks about bringing an iconic character like Lord Ram on screen?

On this Ranbir said, ‘When I was offered this film, there was a lot of doubt and fear in my mind about it. I was wondering if I deserve it? Will I be able to do it or not? But, doubt soon turned into gratitude. I believe that this was a big opportunity to get in life. This was a blessing and a moral responsibility.
Ramayana is embedded in our minds
Describing Lord Ram as a symbol of courage, kindness, forgiveness and truth, Ranbir Kapoor further said, ‘Lord Ram has been the protector of conscience of people all over the world for more than 4 thousand years. Ramayana is settled in the minds of all of us. Representing Lord Ram is a big thing in itself.
Yash praised Ranbir Kapoor
Whereas Yash said about the character of Lord Shri Ram being played by Ranbir in Ramayana, ‘No one in the world can say that he has the ability to play the character of Lord Ram. Whatever Ranbir said says it all. The character of Lord Ram is not easy at all. Ranbir is a brilliant actor and I have a lot of respect for the way he has worked for this.
A grand trailer launch event was held in Delhi
On July 18, a grand trailer launch event of Ramayana was held at ‘Bharat Mandapam’ in Delhi. Apart from celebs like Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Vivek Oberoi, saints and sages also participated in this event.

‘Ramayana’ will prove to be India’s most expensive film
Let us tell you that Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari are making Ramayana in two parts. Namit has recently revealed that the total budget of both its parts is Rs 4 thousand crores. This is going to prove to be the most expensive film in the history of Indian cinema so far.
Why did Namit Malhotra decide to make ‘Ramayana’?
50-year-old Namit Malhotra had revealed the special and interesting reason for making Ramayana in the GBS ET Now Conclave. He had told that he spent almost two decades in Hollywood, during which he saw and realized that our industry, culture and history are not given much importance there.
At that time Namit used to get irritated thinking that we were seen as an emerging country. This thing troubled me a lot. After this Namit decided to present something that would tell who we are, what is our culture and history? After this the producer had decided to make Ramayana and that too with great grandeur.
Know about Ramayana director Nitesh Tiwari
53 year old Nitesh Tiwari has taken over the reins of direction of Ramayana. It is noteworthy that Nitesh Tiwari has given films like ‘Dangal’ to Indian cinema, which is India’s most profitable film. Apart from this, he has also directed films like ‘Chillar Party’, ‘Bhootnath Returns’, ‘Chhichhore’ and ‘Bawal’.
When will ‘Ramayana’ be released?
The makers are preparing to release Ramayana simultaneously across the world. Its lyrics have been written by popular poet Kumar Vishwas. Whereas in this big budget film, music has been given by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Prime Focus Studio and DNEG are jointly making Ramayana. Ramayan is being made in two parts, the first part will hit the theaters across the world on Diwali of 2026 and the second part will hit the theaters across the world on Diwali of 2027.
