First cabinet resignation of independent India
After the independence of the country, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee was made the Minister of Industries and Supplies in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He became the first minister in the history of modern India to resign from the Union Cabinet post. On 6 April 1950, he resigned from the post of minister.
Resigned for this reason
The reason for his resignation was the Nehru-Liaquat Pact signed between India and Pakistan at that time. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee completely disagreed with the government’s policy on security issues and atrocities on minorities, especially Hindus, in Pakistan. When his views were not accepted, he left the cabinet without any delay.

Later formed a new party
After separating from the Nehru government, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee established the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 with the help of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had openly campaigned against the special status Article 370 implemented in Jammu and Kashmir and two laws, two heads and two marks in one country.

Only after the resignation of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar who was the Law and Justice Minister at that time and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri who was the Railway and Transport Minister at that time.
