Recently the topic of Rohit Sharma’s retirement was much discussed. Such claims were made in which it was said that Rohit was going to play the last match of his career against England at Lord’s ground. In this match, ‘Hitman’ played a historic inning of 138 runs. Now BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla rejected the speculations about Rohit’s retirement. Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had also termed the news of retirement as just a rumour.
Giving a befitting reply to his critics who were spreading rumors of retirement, Rohit Sharma scored 138 runs in the Lord’s ODI. He became the first Indian cricketer to score a century at Lord’s in ODI cricket. Let us tell you that Rohit has already retired from Test and T20 formats.
Rajeev Shukla made everything clear
During the mini auction of UP T20 League held in Agra, Rajeev Shukla said, “Rohit Sharma is a part of our team and will continue to play. The news being spread in the media and social media is false. At present there is no question of his retirement.”
Rohit has also given statement
Rohit Sharma had also clearly said in an interview given to BCCI that whatever is going on in the outside world, he is ignoring it. Rohit said that he has always been encouraged to play for his country, for his team and he will continue to do the same in future also.
Rohit Sharma has so far scored 11,895 runs in his ODI career of 288 matches. He has 34 ODI centuries to his name and has come third in terms of scoring most centuries in this format.
