A new development has come to light regarding the deal for 114 Rafale fighter aircraft between the governments of India and France. It is being told that in view of the needs of the Indian Air Force, the Indian Government had issued a Letter of Request (LoR) to France in the month of May this year for a mega government-to-government deal of 114 Rafale fighter jets, on which France’s reply is expected in the middle of August.
Defense officials gave information regarding India-France deal
Indian defense officials told news agency ANI that French officials have asked for time till mid-August next month to give their final reply on India’s letter of request to France in the month of May. He told that when the official response from France on Indian LoR comes, then both the sides will discuss in detail the price of 114 Rafale Fighters jets and other important aspects.
Dassault Aviation can make 94 out of 114 Rafale jets in India
According to ANI report, under this deal between India and France, French manufacturer Dassault Aviation will partner with an Indian company to manufacture 94 Rafale fighter aircraft in India.
These excellent fighter aircraft are very important to meet the important needs of the Indian Air Force. Because the squadron strength of the Indian Air Force is decreasing due to the withdrawal of variants of Russian-made MiG fighter jets and other old aircraft from service, as well as significant delays in the induction of indigenous aircraft like LCA Mark-1A and LCA Mark-2.
How many Rafale fighter jets has India ordered??
However, the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy have already placed an order for 62 Rafale fighter jets to French manufacturer Dassault Aviation. After this, when the orders for 114 Rafale fighter jets are confirmed between India and France, then its total number will become 176.
At the same time, in view of the maritime threats and to deal with them, the Indian Navy has expressed its desire to induct 31 more Rafale jets in addition to the pre-determined order. If talks move forward to fulfill this demand of the Indian Navy, then the total number of Rafale fighter aircraft in India may exceed 200.
