Mohammad Junaid, who was distributing food to the protesters during the protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, has alleged that the police detained him on Friday (July 24) night. Junaid said that he was interrogated, blindfolded and taken to Mussoorie. Junaid claimed that he was kept blindfolded the whole night. According to Junaid, the next morning an officer allegedly interrogated him about the source of money and the daily distribution of food at Jantar Mantar.
Police released Junaid in Mussoorie
Junaid claimed that the police took him to Mussoorie and left him there, after which he returned to Delhi by taxi on Saturday (25 July 2026). In a video on social media, Junaid told that he and one of his friends were stopped by some people, who introduced themselves as Delhi Police personnel. Zunaid was returning from RML hospital at that time. Zunaid says that when they interrogated him, he told that the volunteers involved in the protest get food and water through donations and deliveries from supporters.
Junaid raised questions on CJP
Junaid also claimed that after the end of the protest, he was not getting that kind of support from the Cockroach Janata Party. He said, ‘CJP should be supported. We have continuously fought with them… the legal team is working. Special attention should be paid to this. When Junaid was asked whether CJP was distancing itself from him, he said, perhaps I think so, but we want all of us to fight this battle together. We are with the students.
CJP had announced on Saturday (25 July 2026) to end its 36-day-long agitation over the NEET controversy after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the government accepting other demands of the organization. The students’ protest started on June 20 at Jantar Mantar under the leadership of CJP demanding improvement in the examination system, fixing accountability in the NEET question paper leak case and resignation of Pradhan from the post of Union Education Minister.
When did CJP stop the protest?
Gradually it became one of the most important youth-led movements in recent times. The CJP-led movement gained national momentum after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk came out in support of the students on June 28 and began a fast with six AISA activists at Jantar Mantar.
The anger of students and youth increased further after Delhi Police removed Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar on July 18 and took him to Safdarjung Hospital. Wangchuk ended his fast after 26 days on Thursday after receiving assurance from the Center to accept the demands of the protesters. “Victory to democracy, direct democracy… which has come straight from the streets,” he said in a social media post after Pradhan’s resignation.
