Viral Reddit Post: The post of a 26-year-old user from Bengaluru is becoming increasingly viral on the social media platform Reddit. In this he is seen telling that his monthly salary is Rs 2 lakh, there is no EMI pressure, yet he feels poor. In his post the person said that he is always worried about money. Due to this, he is not able to get satisfaction from whatever he has achieved so far in life.
Gave better life to parents
The man told that he grew up in a family where the monthly household income was never more than Rs 6000-7000 until he got his first job at the age of 21. His family lived in a small room measuring 10×10. During that time, the biggest priority was to improve the financial condition of the family. When he got a job in 2021, he decided that now he has to give a comfortable life to his parents.
The user wrote, “When I started earning, I made sure my parents stopped working.” He is now living a retired life at our house. I have shifted them to a 2BHK house in my hometown and I live in my 2BHK house in Bangalore.
Saving is going on a lot
He invests Rs 30,000 every month in mutual funds, keeps aside Rs 10,000 in fixed or recurring deposits, puts another Rs 10,000 in gold savings and also sends Rs 15,000-20,000 to his parents. His rent and living expenses together amount to around Rs 25,000.
The person further said, “Ever since I started earning in 2021, I have saved Rs 4 lakh in stocks, Rs 2 lakh in FD and about Rs 2-2.5 lakh in gold.” Apart from this, Rs 6 lakh is also deposited in my salary account.
What is the tension about?
He has bought himself a scooter, decorated his house nicely, also bought a MacBook and a smartphone. Recently, I have taken health insurance for my parents and also life insurance for myself. He is undoubtedly proud of his achievements, but even after all this he does not feel like becoming rich.
The man said that the problem is not lack of money, but the realization that he cannot buy everything at once. Every financial decision has to be taken at the cost of some other dream. There is going to be a marriage this year, which will cost at least Rs 10 lakh, there is also a plan to buy an old car and a land in the hometown. Also thinking of buying a bike.
Friends happy despite low salary
The user says that many of his friends in his hometown are laborers or auto drivers, but despite earning less, they are happy. Here at the age of 26, despite earning so much, he feels poor. This thing bothers him more. The man, feeling constantly burdened by financial worries, has asked for advice from Reddit users.
