In August, the Indian team will play a 2-Test series on Sri Lanka tour, for which BCCI has announced the squad of Team India on Tuesday. The board said that Washington Sundar was not available for selection in the first test. 15 players have been selected under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, out of which the playing of 2 players will be decided on the basis of their fitness report. KL Rahul is the vice-captain, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel have been included in the team as 2 wicketkeepers.
Tall fast bowler Gurnoor Brar, who recently made his ODI debut, may make his Test debut in this series. He was also included in the only test against Afghanistan, but then his place was not made in the playing 11. Saransh Jain has been included in the Test team for the first time. Coming from Madhya Pradesh, Saransh is an all-rounder, who is an off-spinner and a left-handed batsman.
BCCI said in its statement that the availability of Sai Sudarshan and Jasprit Bumrah will depend on getting fitness clearance from the COE (Centre of Excellence). Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test.
