Some time ago, Pakistani Rangers again fired on the protesters while standing on the rooftops of houses in Rawalakot of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Since yesterday, 19 protesters have been killed in the firing, however, even after this the protesters are standing at Chinar Chowk in Rawalakot and are appealing to the Rangers to withdraw.
In Rawalakot of PoK, Rangers and FC are firing intermittently to disperse the protesters. However, this firing is having no effect and the protesters are still standing at Chinar Chowk and Shaheed Chowk to move towards Muzaffarabad. Squads of Rangers are deployed on the rooftops of people’s houses.
The protesters are going towards Rawalakot. Meanwhile, the Rangers opened fire on a group of 30-40 people. After Rawalakot, firing and death in Mirpur, a total of 22 people have lost their lives in the last 24 hours alone. Pakistani security forces have mainly targeted members of the Awami Action Committee (AAC), which is leading a campaign to boycott the ongoing elections in the region.
The Shahbaz government has sent more than 14,000 troops to the area to control the protesters and the election process. Snipers have been deployed at many places, while tear gas shells were also used by security forces to disperse the protesters. Security forces have been ordered to fire at those who are boycotting the elections.
This step has been taken to suppress the voices of protest in the area, where protests have been going on continuously for the last several weeks. Along with using force on the people of PoK, the administration there has also shut down internet and mobile services in the area. Apart from this, electricity and water supply has also been cut in many parts of the area.
