Foreign Direct Investment: There has been a big change regarding foreign investment in India in the last 11 years. The effect of the government’s easy and investor-friendly policies is now visible in the figures of FDI i.e. Foreign Direct Investment. According to these figures, between the financial year 2014 and 2025, India has made a total foreign direct investment of $ 748.78 billion.
Foreign investment doubled
This figure is about 143 percent more than the $308.38 billion received between 2003 and 2014. This means that foreign investment in India has more than doubled in the last 11 years. The special thing is that the FDI that came during the year 2014 to the year 2025 is about 70 percent of the total foreign investment of $ 1,072.36 billion that India received in the last 25 years. This shows that in the last decade, India has increasingly become a favorite destination for foreign investors.

There has also been a difference in annual FDI
There has been a big change not only in the total amount for 11 years, but also in the foreign investment coming in every year. FDI worth $36.05 billion came to India in the financial year 2013-14. This amount increased to $81.04 billion in the financial year 2024-25. So in the financial year 2023-24, India had received foreign investment of $ 71.28 billion. In comparison, foreign investment has increased by about 14 percent in 2024-25.
Investment increased from new areas
In the last few years, foreign investment has not been limited to only a few selected sectors. Now the interest of foreign companies has also increased in areas like services, computer software and hardware, trading and manufacturing. In the financial year 2024-25, the services sector remained at the forefront in receiving FDI equity investment. Its share in total foreign investment was 19 percent. After this, computer software and hardware had 16 percent share and trading had 8 percent share.
Maharashtra is at the forefront, Singapore is the biggest investor
Maharashtra remained at the forefront among the Indian states in receiving foreign investment in the financial year 2024-25. Its share in total FDI equity inflow was 39 percent. After this, Karnataka is at second and third place with 13 percent and Delhi with 12 percent. At the same time, Singapore remained at the forefront among the countries bringing FDI in India. Its share in the total investment was 30 percent. After this, Mauritius remained with 17 percent and America with 11 percent.
