People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has criticized the action taken against Kashmiris protesting in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). He has raised questions on the action taken by the Pakistani government against Kashmiris. Mufti said that the pictures emerging of the use of force against peaceful protesters are heart-wrenching. He said that no nation can develop by suppressing the voice of its people. These repressive policies are meant to suppress the voice of the public. Mufti has said these things through a post on social media handle X.

Mufti condemned the action
Mehbooba Mufti said, “The pictures coming out from across the LoC in the other part of Kashmir are heart-wrenching. It is sad to see such force being used on peaceful protesters.”
Mufti further wrote in her post, “The Pakistani government should have adopted a humanitarian and dialogue approach. The reports are being false that the demands of the protesters are legitimate and they should be heard.”
Mufti talked about the rights of Kashmiris
He further wrote, “No nation becomes strong by suppressing the voices of its own people by using force. The government should stop this action and stop firing bullets at peaceful protesters.”
Mufti further said that Kashmiris also deserve respect and justice and their voice should also be heard and not suppressed.
What is the matter?
It should be noted that assembly elections are to be held in Pok on 27th July and the local people are opposing it. The biggest controversy is regarding the 12 reserved seats here. People allege that Pok is using the 12 seats reserved for refugees in the assembly to impose its puppet government. Due to this, there is anger among the people in PoK against the Pakistan government and army. The local people are taking to the streets in large numbers and protesting.
The government is using Pakistani security forces to suppress the protest. Even force is being used on them, pictures and videos of which have also surfaced. Due to this, dozens of people have died and dozens have been injured. Pakistani security forces have stopped the supply of even essential goods in many areas and internet service has also been stopped.
