Targeting Congress
Targeting the Congress, he said, “The Congress governments have opposed caste census till date. Castes were not counted in all the census after independence. In the year 2010, the then Prime Minister late Dr. Manmohan Singh ji assured in the Lok Sabha that caste census will be considered in the cabinet. Subsequently, a cabinet group was also set up, in which more numbering political parties were constituted, caste -based census was set up. Despite this, the Congress government thought it is appropriate to conduct a survey instead of caste census, which is known as SECC.

Ramdas Athawale further said, “The theme of the census is inscribed on the serial number 69 of the Central List of Article 246 of the Constitution and it is the subject of the Center. However, many states have census castes through survey. While in some states this work has been done smoothly, some other states have surveyed in a political point of view and non -perfect manner. Keeping in and ensuring that our social fabric does not come under the pressure of politics, the calculation of castes should be included in the original census instead of a survey.
‘Current government committed to the interests of society’
The Union Minister also said, “Today, on the day of 30.04.2025, the cabinet committee of political subjects led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has decided that the census of castes should be included in the upcoming census. It shows that the present government is committed to the universal interests and values of the country and society.”
