Cancer Risk Reduction Diet: Cancer is a serious and fatal disease. It is one of the biggest concerns in the world today. Every year a large number of people lose their lives by being hit by this disease. Due to many factors like deteriorating lifestyle, catering and pollution, its risk increases rapidly. However, some easy changes can reduce its risk.

Recently, Clinical Epidemiologist at Harvard University, Mingyang Song said that some foods may increase the risk of cancer, while some can help reduce its risk. Song said in her research that snacks with packets such as ultra-processed foods, fried food and processed meat (bacon, sausage, red meat) can increase the risk of cancer.

Why avoid ultra-processed foods

According to Song, such foods are deficient in nutrients in Ultra-Prosessed Foods and contain high amounts of salt, sugar, saturated fats and low fibers, which can be harmful to health. They contain such additives and carcinogenic elements that can affect the body. Cooking the meat on high temperature can produce cancer ingredients like hetocyclic amine in it.

Which foods beneficial to avoid cancer

Song also told that some foods like yogurt, fruits, vegetables and dry fruits can reduce the risk of cancer. If you include these things in your diet, then the risk of cancer can be reduced to a great extent. Due to this, the body also remains healthy.

Diet tips to reduce the risk of cancer

1. Instead of red meat, adopt plant based protein such as lentils, beans, tofu or mushrooms. They contain fiber and are good for the body.

2. Eat whole grains like quinoa, brown rice and oats instead of white bread and rice. They contain fiber and antioxidants that help in fighting cancer.

3. Eat a handful of nuts, seeds or fresh fruits instead of chips and processed snacks in breakfast. These provide good facts and nutrients to your body.

4. Choose cruciferous vegetables (eg broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower) from the vegetables. They are full of cancer -fighting properties.

5. Drink green tea, lemonade or fresh coconut water instead of sugar and sweet drinks, which hydrate without more sugar.
