YouTube content creaters: Video sharing platform YouTube has planned to invest more than Rs 850 crore to speed up the growth of Indian ‘content’, artists and media companies. YouTube Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Neil Mohan gave this information on Thursday. He said that in the last three years, YouTube has paid more than Rs 21,000 crore to the creators, artists and media companies across India.

YouTube will invest 850 crores in India

Last year, the video material (content) prepared in India was seen by the audience outside the country for 45 billion hours. Mohan said in a session held on the inauguration day of the World View Little and Entertainment Summit (Waves) here, “YouTube will invest more than Rs 850 crore in the next two years to accelerate the growth of Indian creators, artists and media companies.”

More than 10 million channels uploaded content

He said that Indian ‘Content Creator’ is an example of what is special in India and it has the ability to share history, culture and passion with the audience present in every corner of the world. He said that the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made India a light pillar for creators around the world, which is clear from his own remarkable digital appearance.

Mohan said that ‘Prime Minister Modi has the most YouTube following compared to any of the world’s head with more than 2.5 crore subscribers on YouTube.’ Describing India as ‘creative country’, he said that last year more than 10 million channels of the country uploaded ‘content’ on YouTube, out of which more than 15,000 channels were subscribers more than 1 million.

Mohan said, ‘This is 11,000 more channels a few months ago. YouTube has enabled these creators and countless people not only to share their passion with the world, but has also helped in making loyal fans and successful businesses.

He said, ‘In the last three years, we have paid more than Rs 21,000 crore to the creators, artists and media companies all over India. Mohan said that the ability to connect the creator of any place to the audience of every place has made YouTube a powerful engine of cultural exports, and only a few countries have benefited as effectively as India.
