Canada News: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Sunday met Governor-General Mary Simon and requested to dissolve the Parliament and announced the election date. The upcoming election in Canada will be held on 28 April. In this election, Liberal Party leader Mark Karney will face Conservative Party chief Pierre Polyvre.

Carney, who became Prime Minister after Justin Trudeau’s resignation, sought support from the public, referring to the ongoing trade war with US President Donald Trump during the election announcement. He has taken a tough stance towards Trump.

Mark Carney asked for public support

Mark Carney said that he wants the support of the public to deal with President Trump effectively and strengthen Canada’s economy. He insisted that a strong government is needed to protect Trump’s business policies and Canada’s sovereignty from possible threat. Carney targeted his rival Conservative leader Pierre Polyvre of adopting policies like Trump.

This month, Mark Carney was sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada. Bank of Canada and former Governor of Bank of England, Carney, have resolved to empower the Canadian economy, giving prominence to their financial expertise.

‘We are going through a difficult period’

Carney said, ‘We are going through a difficult period and facing a serious crisis as Trump’s unfair business policies are becoming a threat to our sovereignty. Our response should be to build a strong economy and a safe Canada.

He appealed to the Canadian public and said, ‘I am seeking mandate to deal with Trump firmly and to create a rich Canadian economy. The US President is claiming that Canada is his part. They want to weaken us, but we will never let this happen.
