Talks begin in geneva on Saturday on tariff dispute between the US and China

Us-china: Negotiations on tariffs between the US and China have started. On Saturday, talks took place between US Finance Minister and US top trade negotiator and Chinese officials in Geneva, Switzerland. Its purpose is to resolve the tariff dispute among themselves so that there is no business between the two and there is no harm to the global economy.

Today, there will be talks between two sides again

Treasury Secretary Scott Besant and US Trade Representative Jamison Greer started a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Hey Lifeng in Geneva. According to sources, Villa Saladin, residence of Swiss UN Ambassador in Geneva, held a conversation between the two sides on Saturday for about 10 hours. Today, the talks will start once again on Sunday.

Expectation of any major success is reduced

However, during this time, there is rarely expectation of any major success, but it is likely that both countries can reduce the heavy tariffs imposed on each other. This will provide relief to companies of both countries along with global economy. US President Donald Trump last month increased the US tariff on China to 145 percent.

China also retaliated on this, increasing the tariff on American imports to 125 percent. Putting such a large amount of tariff means that the two countries are boycotting each other’s goods. This is damaging business. Last year, the two had a turnover of more than $ 660 billion.

Before the commencement of this dialogue, Trump on Friday proposed to reduce the tariff to 80 percent on China.
