Donald Trump Announcement on Syria: US President Donald Trump made a big announcement on Tuesday (May 13, 2025), saying that he was thinking of lifting the ban from Syria. The US has banned Syria after the collapse of Assad rule. Trump announced the move during the Saudi Investment Forum in Riyadh, saying that he has taken this decision after a discussion with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyap Erdogan.

He said, “Syria has suffered many insults, wars and murders in many years. So my administration has taken the first step towards restoring the general relations between the United States and Syria for the first time in more than a decade.” Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stood up and applauded after Trump announced this.

America and Syrian Foreign Minister will meet in Türkiye

According to CNN report, Trump said that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet Syrian Foreign Minister in Türkiye later this week. The US President said, “The restrictions were cruel and crippling and used to work as an important task at that time but now the time has come for him to shine.” He hoped that the new government of Syria would be successful in stabilizing the country by maintaining peace.


Donald Trump met Syrian interim President

He said further said, “Therefore I say best wishes, Syria. Show us some specials.” Removing sanctions is an important victory for the Syrian government. The Assad rule collapsed during the Biden administration in December. However, the move can be seen as a blow from the Israeli government, which increased military and regional progress in Syria in view of Assad’s downfall. Donald Trump also met Syrian interim President Ahmed Al-Shra. After about 25 years, leaders have met between the two countries.
