Taking a big step towards further strengthening the maritime security of India, Adani Defense & Aerospace made a strategic partnership with the American company Sparton on 18 May. Sparton, which is a group company of Elbit Systems, will now help Adani to assemble Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems in India.
Now high-tech system like Sonobuoy will be built in India
Under this partnership, sonobuoys and other anti-Sabarine Warfare Systems will be produced in India. This initiative is being done under ‘Atmaar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ campaigns. This is the first time that a private company in India will provide the Navy providing Sonobuoy solutions made in the country.
What is sonobuoy and why it is necessary?
Sonobuoy is a state -of -the -art device, which helps detects, locket and track enemy submarines under the sea. It increases the ‘Undersea Domain Awareness’ abilities of the Indian Navy. This system is very important for protecting the Navy’s security, patrolling and career strike groups.
Till now, India had to get this technology from abroad, which led to dependence on foreign companies. But now Adani Defense will prepare this technology within the country.
Example of self -sufficiency under ‘Make in India’
Sparton is already working with the Indian Navy and now under this new partnership, Adani Defense will make them fully available in ‘Made in India’. This initiative will give a boost to self -reliance in the country’s defense technology.
Jeet Adani, Vice President of Adani Enterprises, said on the occasion, “In today’s unstable marine environment, strengthening India’s underwater warfare capabilities is not a strategic priority but for the sovereignty and safety of the nation.” He further said that the Indian Navy needs such mission-red and indigenous developed systems which are also competitive globally. Through this partnership with Sparton, Adani Defense will now provide the same solution to the country.
