Google I/O 2025: This time the main focus in the Google I/O 2025 program was Artificial Intelligence and Gemini AI. There have been many big announcements in this program, but the most interesting feature is the real time voice translation tool in Google Meet. This AI-based feature video call will make easy dialogue between those interacting in two different languages during video calls.
Google’s CEO shows demo
Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai showed a small demo of this feature, saying that it will not be limited to showing subtitles on the screen but will translate the speaker’s voice into another language and that too remains the tone, expression and speaking style of such a basic voice. Pichai said, “You can see how it matches the expression and accent of the speaker.”
This technique is behind Gemini AI, which makes processing and voice synthesis possible in low latency. The translated voice has been designed in such a way that it does not look like a normal text-to-skit system, but matched the real voice of the speaker to make the conversation more natural and personal. The demo video showed how an English -speaker and a Spanish user could have a spontaneous conversation through Google Meet without any language interruption.
When will the feature be available
Currently, this facility is being introduced for customers with Google AI Pro and Ultra plan as beta version. Initially it will support translation between English and Spanish, but other languages are also expected to be supported in the coming weeks. Google also said that it is also testing the enterprise version of this feature for Workspace Business Users. Its trial with selected corporate clients will be started by the end of this year. Apart from this, a new AI feature has also been added to Gmail “Personalized Smart Reply”. It will suggest smart, context-based answers to users as per email conversation.
